99 Cavalier
heres the deal i just changed the water pump, thermostat, drivebelts, coolant(flush and fill)
now heres the thing the car runs fine it heats up very quickly now but i have no heat inside the car also it runs hotter before it was just under 90 now its closer to 100 and the fan is on almost always soon as the car gets hot.....now im wondering what this could be, i thought maybe bigtime airlock but i ran the car for about 20 minutes with the cap off the coolant reservoir. and i got heat but after it cooled down i ran it again no more than an hour later and i had no heat again....help me please!!!! |

Re: 99 Cavalier
air pocket is what it sounds like. 2.2's are a pain in the ASS for that. How much collant did you put in there?

Re: 99 Cavalier
it should take two gallons. Best way i know of without using the special collant sucker is to open the cap, open the bleader screw on teh small metal pipe and squeese the hosees and bunch. then start it up and wait till the collant comes out of the bleader screw and a good pace and then put the screw back in but keep squeesing the hoses and it rocking the car a little. jacking up the one side can help a lil as well

Re: 99 Cavalier
i would have to say so after runing more it seems the coolant has started to circulate, the reservoir filled up again and drained again and the bottom rad hose has now gotten warmer...i do believe it has been fixed...
thank you for your assistance |
