how do you remove dash mounted fog light switch?

I believe I have a bad fog lamp switch on my 2000 Silverado. This is the factory fog lamp set up. How do you remove the switch from the dash. I havn't looked into it yet, but thought I would ask here so I'll be able to start on it first thing in the morning. I'm hoping I can repair the switch, I already know the dealer would have to order the part.

Re: how do you remove dash mounted fog light switch?

I am not to familiar with that year of truck how ever I believe the best way is to slowly remove the dash around the switch I know it is a pain but this way no damage just take notes or whatever on disassembly so the reassemble is easyer.

Re: how do you remove dash mounted fog light switch?

I have this from some other site I think for an XM Radio Mount installation...hope it helps....

Begin by removing the trim bezel that surrounds the instrument cluster, radio, and climate control. This bezel extends from the left of the steering wheel to the right of the radio. Slide ashtray out. With your hand palm side up, grasp the lower section of the bezel just above the ashtray. Pull toward you to release the first clip. Using the same action, continue working the bezel loose in a counter clockwise motion releasing a total of eleven (11) clips.

NOTE: For automatic transmissions with a column shift only. Apply the emergency brake. Insert the key and turn the ignition to the “on’’ position. Place the transmission into low gear.

STEP 2.
If applicable, tilt the adjusting steering wheel to its lowest position. Grasp the trim bezel and carefully pull it away from the dash. Set the bezel aside. Place the transmission back into park and turn the ignition to the off position.

Re: how do you remove dash mounted fog light switch?

The dash panel will just pop off with a little (well maybe more than a little) hand and finger effort. If you have tilt wheel it should be all the way down and the tranny shift lever all the way down. Once that's off it takes a small screwdriver to release the retaining clips on either side to remove the switch......Steve
