Possible purchase of 88 Celica, questions
I have found an 88 Celica that is in excellent condition, 2 door, lift back, 5 speed, (6 cylinder? is what the owner states, I thought they only put 4 cylinders in the celica's) the interior is excellent, no rust, a beautiful car, with 99000 miles. New timing chain, new brakes, new tires.
Is there anything that I need to watch for when I test drive this later today? Any issues? I do not remember if it is a GT or a GTS, as I have never owned a Celica. I think the price is a bit high at $3200. What do you all think?? Sid |

Re: Possible purchase of 88 Celica, questions
could be a Celica-Supra. I don't think they split the two lines until right around '90, but I could be wrong.

Re: Possible purchase of 88 Celica, questions
i think they split them after the 3rd gen celica so pre-86. unless the year is wrong it cant be a celica supra, but check it to make sure. with only 99k miles that seems like a pretty good deal cause this car should last you a long time. if u had i pick i could tekll you exactly what it was.

Re: Possible purchase of 88 Celica, questions
If it's a turbo, find out if the head gasket has been replaced. They usually blow around 70- 80k miles. If the car hasn't been abused like mine was, that doesn't seem to be too high of a price for the mileage. I paid 2200 for mine with like 180K on it.watch the trim on the door panels for rust if its visible. There is some aftermarket support for the car, but not as much as a mkvi. Hope this helps.
