'88 Lebaron Fuel Pump Prob

Why does the fuel pump keep running after ignition turned off and key removed? '88 2.2 T1, A/T, Tilt Wheel No Air Bag.

Re: '88 Lebaron Fuel Pump Prob

My guess would be a sticking/bad fuel pump relay. The relay should be located somewhere under the hood.

Re: '88 Lebaron Fuel Pump Prob

After consulting Haynes.. power to the fuel pump is controlled via the Automatic Shutdown Relay. This is located on the right side of the engine bay behind the battery attatched to the inner fender. Its the smaller of the 4 or 5 boxes.. i dont think tis the one attatched to the strut tower tho..

Hope this helps

This sir is correct. It would be the Shutdown relay. Just did this last year. Took me a few days to figure out the problem too. DONT FORGET TO USE NEW ENDS IF THE WIRES LOOK CORRODED. In my case it wasnt really the relay, but the associated wiring. So bust out an ohm meter and test test test. Might not need a relay at all! :\
