put on seatbelt, light comes on. wtf??

My wife has a RAV4. When I drove it, every time I would put on the seat belt, the seat belt light would blink, but when I woould take it off, the light would shut off. Shouldn't this be the other way around. It just started doing this. Any ideas?

Weird. Maybe a wiring problem or something. Check under the seat... there should be a harness where the wire for the seat belt sensor can be detached. They make it this way so that the seat can be taken out w/out damaging the wires and pulling on them. I don't know about the RAV4, but I assume most (if not all) will have the harness under the seat. If you can't find it, try tracing the wire from the bottom of the seat belt clip.

When you find it, detach the harness by releasing the clip where the wires join together. Check the harness for anything that shouldn't be in there and join the wires back together. I honestly don't know why it's doing what it does, so just try that... if that doesn't work, I dunno. Just play around with it.

All this requires is a bit of change of thinking. Instead of looking at that light and thinking that is says, 'hey, you're not buckled in', look at it and think it's saying, 'Hey! good job! You put the thingie in that other thing, and now you're buckled in, all nice and safe. You can rest assured that I'm gonna take care of you now. Sit back and enjoy the ride!'

Why's everything gotta be a problem? Hell, tell people you did it on purpose. Maybe even change the light color to something like green or blue. A little less glaring that that horrible red 'somethings fucked up!' color =)
