Going to Famoso Raceway w/ Danno on Sat.

I'm hoping for a 12 sec. slip. I'll be at a relatively sea level track, and most likely will be in optimal conditions. My only hope is that nothing breaks. For those that dunno Danno, he has an 05 GTO. We will try to make some vids of the runs.

Mods on my car are as follows:
2001 T/A WS6
Z06 cam, Lid, Magnaflow Catback, SLP underdrive pulleys, Throttle Body Coolant Bypass, Lou Thesz Short Stick, Lower Control Arms, Panhard Bar, Strut Tower Brace, Richmond 4.10 Gearing, and BFG Drag Radials. Car has been dyno tuned to 351whp/341wtq. Previous best was a 13.1 sec. pass at 109mph.

I'm shooting to either run the following cars: 03 Cobra, Z06 Corvette, or a Mach 1 Mustang.

What do you guys think i'll run? What do you think Danno will run (He's on street tires)?

Re: Going to Famoso Raceway w/ Danno on Sat.

I think if you can get the damn thing to hook, 12s isn't out of the picture.

If you hook, 12.7-12.8 @ 110-111mph. Although I wouldn't be suprised to see a 12.8 @ 109mph... hooking gets you the ET, but lowers the trap as most folks know...

Re: Going to Famoso Raceway w/ Danno on Sat.

hooking does not lower traps. My best trap speeds have ALWAYS come with my best 60 Ft. Compared to other cars, it might appear lower, but his car will run the fastest trap with the best 60ft that he runs. It only makes sense, spinning tires=wasted power=slower acceleration.

First time i went to the track with my supercharged, i ran 14.7@91MPH with a 2.0 60ft. After some mods, next time i went, in order to get that 14.7 i had a 2.2 60ft, and a 92MPH trap, i went again later that year, and when i ran a 2.1 60ft i went 14.6@93MPH.

Re: Going to Famoso Raceway w/ Danno on Sat.

i know it defies logic jayson but thats just the way it is, most of hte time slips i saw with the higest trap speeds are not run with the best 60 ft time. why do you think people put down two seperate numbers when they post times.

one for best trap , one for best E.T. and if you look at them both, the trap speed are usually a coupe of mph higher on the slower E.T. not to mention the E.T. are considerably slower and so are the 60ft times.

don't know why it turns out that way but it just does. look at nissanfanatics time, or 2001ls1z28, or jekyle and hyde's times

That is incorrect.

spinning tires = wasted time = more wheel speed when they hook
more wheel speed when they hook = greater mph
wasted time = slower ET

It is quite often the case that a quicker run has a slower speed.
It just means you were more efficient with your power and had less time to build mph.

Thanks for the nice easy explanation, makes perfect sense to me now.

60ft: 1.4361
1/8th: 6.6570 (second slowest)
mph: 103.43 (best)

60ft: 1.4370
1/8th: 6.6723
mph: 102.46

60ft: 1.4292
1/8th: 6.6440

mph: 102.68 (second slowest)

60ft: 1.4189
1/8th: 6.6449

You can see my 3 quickest ETs came with lower trap speeds then my best mph. And my best ET came with my second slowest trap speed.

Was that before or after your current list of mods?? And how high above sea level?

Either way, if you ran that time with the same mods, then you probably won't pick up any, unless you ran that time at a pretty good distance above sea level and/or in poor conditions.

Track is at 1300ft. elevation, and had a DA of about 2000 ft. when I went. I only got two runs in, as the track is crowded (400 cars). New mods on the car are 4.10 gears and a short stick. The 4.10's have lowered my 60', though I dunno by how much.

Oh, and I couldn't go, as stated in a previous thread, as the track had to be repaired. I might go very soon, but it all depends on the weather.
