Guage cluster questions...

I tried getting the clear plastic cover over the guage faces off, and ended up cracking it, so I stopped there and didn't get it off... Anyone have a trick to this? I'm actually trying to get at the piece of black plastic that surrounds the guages so that I can paint it yellow... So if you know how to get that off of the guage cluster, I'd like to know that too...

idk if the gauges are the same but on a 97 prelude the gauges had like soemthing that held them in, kind like things you see on eletrical connectors that holds them together. the gauges had something like that. i got help for this, one of us pushed down the thing taht holds it on and the other pulled it out. it is simple but hard to do.

might i add his indiglo gauges look sweet on his prelude.

i do beleive the actual plastic piece is glued on. when i did mine i just took a really small screwdriver and pryd it off...really slowly and carefully as not to crack it.

I took the covers off my 89 DX Gauges and 88 Si Gauges and it was just pressing little clips and pulling it out, very easy.

if i remember right, on my 91 rex, there were just some clips holding it on there that you needed to pop out.

Hey Ci5ic, If you need to replace that cracked plastic let me know...I still have my stock DX cluster in the garage...I'll give em to you, just pay for shipping...I replaced it with a canadian cluster that had a tach then transferred the speedo so it'll read mph as suppose to kmh...So all it is, is just the cluster case w/ fuel and temp gauge. Or I can try and pry it to see how it comes off...
