Cool House of Kolor paint announcement for modelers...

I saw this announced on another message board.

Valspar, the parent company of House of Kolor custom paints, has introduced a line of plastic friendly paints for modelers called Kustom Kolors. What's really cool about this is they offer the paints in spray cans! Here's the link to their new website:

http://www.kustomkolorpaints.com/kustomkolor/index.jsp

If you have watched any of the TV shows that rebuild/pimp/customize or whatever to bikes, cars and trucks, then you've seen them use HoK paints.

From what I can tell, the paint is currently available at selected WalMart stores (see the site for locations) as well as online (online store is not yet setup). I'm going to start bugging my local WallyWorld manager to stock the paints.

Take care,
Matt

Re: Cool House of Kolor paint announcement for modelers...

Here is the deal with wal mart. The paint is only available in certain regions. It depends on what DC the store is serviced out of. They cannot order a specific color of paint, it is shipped in as needed. And whatever is shipped is shipped. Eventhough your store may have some types of valspar paints. If they dont have them by now, you probably will never see them and will have to wait for the online store to open. I have been employed at wal mart for 4 1/2 years and when these first started to hit the shelves I did quite a bit of research, and tried to activate the paints for my store, but since our Distribution Center does have them on their supplier list, we cannot get it.

Just to clarify here these are not I repeat not HOK paints. They are from the makers of HOK and are specially formulated for models.
I do not know why people insist on calling them HOK when they are not.
They are made by Valspar who now owns HOK. There is a world of difference between actually being HOK and from the makers of.
HOK are lacquers and urethanes where as the Kustom Kolors are modified enamels from what I can tell.
I am sure they are good paints but lets not confuse them with high dollar high quality HOK paints.
