Rear LCAs, why? Yes I searched

Okay, I bought a 19mm rear sway bar this week. I'll have it at the house in a couple more days. Next, I was thinking of LCAs, but I'm not sure why. I won't be autocrossing, and I'm not sure what they'll do for my car really. In my AF search, I saw that they reduce weight, but so what? How much? Is it really for anything more than looks? Help me out. SilverY2K, you're a guru here, I'd appreciate it. BTW, I'm sending for the ASR chassis brace too. I just don't get the idea of those control arms. It seems to me that they will only benefit for auto-x and for looks, which I really don't care about, but something keeps drawing me to them. Thanks,

Don't waste your time with LCA's. Sure lightweight LCA's reduce unsprung weight, not enough to notice a difference on the street. If your stock LCA bushings are shot you have a reason to upgrade. I replaced both of mine with stock LCA's. If you think they look good, just paint your them. Consider a reinforcement kit before LCA's. http://www.beaksproducts.com/

Atermarket LCA's are also a way to correct camber issues.

ya if ur stock ones are bent otherwise their the same thing as ur oem ones just lighter(maybe).

Very true, though almost every RLCA I've seen for Civics is the SAME specs as OEM as far as mounting points go, so no camber adjustment. But Bullshifter is right that they reduce unspring weight (any weight that's no attached to the chassis/body) but you won't need or notice the difference on the street. At that point it's purely show. So the main point of different RLCAs is reduced unsprung weight, and camber adjustment for those that offer it. Megans, Omni and Skunk2's don't offer camber adjustment. SRRs might but I'm not sure, same with others out there. Really all a guy like you on the streets would want or need is a good spring/shock combo or coilovers, and a good sturdy set of swaybars.

SPC's offer camber adjustment. The shop I worked at sold them for a while.

SPC, that's the one I couldn't remember. Was it those, or SRRs or another brand that came standard with poly bushings? I remember at least onse brand set made did, but I don't recall which ones. The Megans are CRAP. I had to replace mine after only a year when the bushings basically ripped and deteriorated from the force of being lowered on. My current Omnis at least had hard rubber bushings. The Megans were mush in comparison. Even OEM bushings were better than the ones on the Megans.

What about the use of a wider wheel and tire combo?? A lot of those site out there claim this LCA's will help sove tire-rubbing problems and allow you to use wider wheels...is it true?

Not that I'm aware of. Not unless the LCAs actually alter the camber at least.
