newbie saying HELLO to the group!

Just got a 2000 GLS Sterling edition that does not come with a manual . Found a push button on the a/c control head saying "ECONO" and it toggles the light on the button on and off. Can someone tell What that is?

Also I found some yellowish paste/grease like stuff that looks like having got settled down over a long time on the bottom and inner walls of the coolant reservoir. I stuck my finger in and got a bit of it, smeared it between fingers and it feels very much like vesaline, greasy but not oily. What could that be? oil or tranny fluid got their way into coolant? the car runs well by the way, and the engine temperature is normal and stable. the coolant is Dex-cool.

Thanks for any input!

On Caddy's there is an ECON function on the automatic climate control that disables the AC from running (all other functions are the same). I have a 99 Intrigue W/O this function so I can only assume that the feature on your car is similar.

I must say though that the climate control setup in my 99 drives me crazy. The AUTO function contantly calls too much attention to itself. It always seems to run the fan one or two notches too high and it also turns the AC on all the time. If it is 60 outside and the interior temp is set to 70 it still wants to run the AC to cool off the car. Even worse, it is winter here in the north and even now if I let it go to auto mode it wants to blow out the bottom and the defrost vents and run the AC.

Lightbulb Re: newbie saying HELLO to the group!

Hello, I am also new to this forum and recently bought an Intrigue and mine also did not have a owners manual. What's up what do the previous owners do with the manuals? Never had any questions about anything concerning car or how to operate anything in it or did they wear it out trying to figure things out? But I do not know anything about your question just wanted to say hello and if you find out where I can get a owners manual let me know please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a Good Evening BYE, Shannon
