Question Painting Brake Calipers

Has anyone in here painted there brake calipers and if you did, was it a big pain in the rump. Let me know what it intails and how long of a process it is. I don't have 1200 bucks to spend on the ones I really want. LOL

Re: Painting Brake Calipers

It isnt hard to do at all, if you know how to change your brake pads, you know how to paint your calipers. All you have to do is unhook the caliper from the rotor, tape up anything you dont want painted...clean them off really good. Put a primer on them, and then use a high temp paint and thats it.

Re: Painting Brake Calipers

I didn't use primer or take off the caliper. I just used a plastic bag and put over the rotor cleaned it real well and sprayed it red.

Re: Painting Brake Calipers

i bought G2 caliper paint for like 30 or 40 bucks and it came with the spray to clean the caliper and its little mixture to make the paint really hard. Its pretty easy. Just jack up the car use some jack stands to hold it up maybe. Take off the front wheels. after cleaning apply 2 coats of paint and then let dry. I turned the wheel out on which ever side i was working on. so i could get a better angle at it. It just takes some time to dry they said to let it dry for like 24 hours before driving around.
