4L60E Trans Problem

I have a 94 camaro z28 and cant figure out why its having a problem shifting into fourth. It wont shift into 4th gear unless im doing around 50 and i take my foot off the gas, when i put my foot back on the gas it will be in 4th. could this have anything to do with the tourque converter. maybe 4th gear sylonoid. if this is the case, is it easy to replace or do i have to pull the trans. thanks for the help. also the trans seems sluggish with other gear shifts too.

Re: 4L60E Trans Problem

sounds like it is slipping and needs a rebuild, first try to do a flush and filter and add some of that lucas to it. See what happens then.

Re: 4L60E Trans Problem

Torque convertor - Very doubtful
Solenoid - slightly doubtful

Slipping - Uh, uh

I would guess that it has more to do with a bad seal somewhere, not letting the trans. build up enough pressure to shift it into OD (4th). Probably needs to be rebuilt, take it to a pro less headache.

Probably because you have been gunning and abusing the hell out of it that it needs a rebuild..

Take it to a trans pro.

Yes...take it to a trustable trans shop and ask if someone will take a test drive with you...
If you live in SoCal, I recommend LEON'S...
Otherwise ask around your area to find a good trans shop.

Re: 4L60E Trans Problem

what are the shift points for this trans?
mine goes into lock up at like 45-50
and shifts into 4th at like 55-60
is this normal.
the shift points change with the amount of throttle
could a bad VSS make it shift at wrong points?

Re: 4L60E Trans Problem

I just had mine rebuilt and it wasn't cheap but now i know it could handle some torque. you should get it repaired before u get left stranded somewhere.
