Re: supercharger on a vic???

No it cannot work.

The 5.4L has a wider intake by nearly 1", and there is no way to modify the SC to fit on the narrower 4.6L engine.

Furthermore, the 5.4L SC sits WAY too high on the enigne, and you would need to modify the hood (hole) for clearance.

Has anyone here put one of these on??? I followed the link and looked at the instructions. It looks like to me (an amateur mechanical-tinkerer) that you take half the freakin' engine apart!! Holy Mother Cow! Who can do this in their garage?? Just wondering if all this trouble/expense would be worth it for a car that's already got lots of juice.

Re: supercharger on a vic???

I have done three.

While I can hardly be described as a "amateur mechanic/tinkerer", all were completed in well under 8 hours.

Actually the most difficult part is replacing the fuel pump - remembering to run the tank nearly empty before you start the project.

Re: supercharger on a vic???

The Tq increase is HUGE, and you gain about 70-90 RWHP, so for many people yes.

What a heavy var like a CV needs to accelerate well is TORQUE, just what the Allen S/C provides.

With ANY "power adder", and ANY engine, you are on borrowed time.

The 6psi blower uses a less efficient blower than the 9psi race kit does, so you should not "need" forged internals, but that depends to a very large degree on the quality of the tuning and maintenance on the car. The folks at "SCT" (ww.sctflash.com) have the BEST tuning in the world for Fords, no question. There are MANY people at ww.tccoa.com who have the Allen kits, with SCT tunes, and the engines and transmission last agood long time with it.
