2000 Astro New Brakes Question

Hello

I have a 2000 astro all wheel drive. Last time i had just front brakes replaced the mechanic said it took special pads and possibly special rotors. I now need
rear brakes. I am a little un sure about special pads for this vehicle. All though on the NAPA sight there were some type of heavy duty pads that were quite a bit more in price. I tow a boat which has trailer brakes. I just want to make sure i am not being fed something i don't need. Or I may just do them myself.
I have been told in the past that the front suspension goes quick on these modles and between Conrads and my mechanic thay drew this same conclusion so the front suspension got an overhall. I don't mind paying as long as what i am being told is what i really need.
Thanks for anyones time who reads or responds. This site is great and has helped me alot recently

Re: 2000 Astro New Brakes Question

The pads required for your 2000 are of higher quality, either metallic or ceramic, so you didn't get snowed on that. Nothing less is listed for your year model. The shoes in the rear are nothing special. But with brake linings, rotors and drums you do get what you pay for. Being able to go is important, being able to stop more so.
