Angry 01 sel dohc strange stalling again

I posted this a couple of weeks ago, and after replacing the fuel pump relay it was running fine. Today it was hard to start a couple of times and now it's sitting in the driveway and it won't start again. The major difference this time is that I can't hear the fuel pump cycling when I turn the key on, so I think the fuel pump has finally gone out completely. That should be fun this weekend draining a full tank of gas to drop the tank and replace the pump in what is predicted to be a sleet storm. maybe it can sit till spring. I'll just drive the escort.

If you have a multimeter or test light, you may want to check for voltage to the pump before you drop the tank. I believe Ford still used fuel pump inertia switches in 2001 model year. You can test for voltage on the output side of that to the fuel pump.

If you don't have voltage into and out of the switch with respect to ground, you should track that problem down before dropping the tank. If you do have voltage there, it doesn't guarantee that your pump is bad, but at least should narrow your search. You could still have a grounding issue or corroded connections, etc.
