The freezing of humans......

Well, I don't know if this has been said before, but, eh, alot of thought comes to my mind about cryogenic frozen humans, and it to say is intresting, but, will it ever happen?

My theory, I would have to say no, because it would be to much of a problem, and basically you would have to replace your whole insides, but everything else would be preserved, aka, your body and so forth. If give the chance to be frozen for 2000 years, and KNOW you were going to be brought back to life after 2000 years, would you like it? Knowing you are perfectly the way you were 2000 years ago? This may not make any sense, but the thought has been on my mind for ages....And i didn't think i could make a thread up about it, but eh, here it is. So will this ever happen? i have to say NO, simply for the problems it would cause, and how expensive it would be.

I seem to remember reading an article that explained that the modern technique for freezing living organisms will not work with a body as sophisticated as the human body. I believe that it explained it's theory as follows:

Have you ever seen a snow flake or ice crystals on the inside of your freezer? If so you may notice that the crystals form as jagged spikes that grow. Inside the human body, or any living tissue for that matter, as the water inside the tissue freezes the crystals form as these jagged spikes, and as they grow they act as tiny little razor blades that cut and damage the cells that make up the tissue. So when the tissue is thawed, the tissue dies.
I really don't remember how they explained how sperm and eggs can be frozen in this manner, but remember that they are simple single celled organisms(I believe, but not sure). Maybe that explaines them.

I think it might be an effect similar to when you freeze lettuce. (I know, I know, lettuce and humans aren't exactly similar.) Frozen lettuce looks normal until it starts to thaw, then it collapses into a soggy, disgusting heap.

Reminds of Vanilla Sky.

Even if it's physically possible to freeze, store, and thaw a human back to life, there can be other consequences. What will it be like for the person being frozen? How do you know that the frozen bodies will be safe? What if in those 2000 years there is a apocalytpic world war, you get unplugged, Earth gets invaded, you get buried/lost, or the company goes out of business, etc..

Freezing humans is pretty cool, u can come back to life after many years, but i don't think i'd want it. Once i'm dead, i'm dead. But i respect people that want to

Even if it was completely possible - would we want to live in a society and culture 200 years advanced? Wouldn't you feel lke the last one to know everything? The freak? No way...

There are groups looking at Freezing and it's effects. Tree Frogs can be frozen for months and live. Check out this article. It's small but it gives you the idea. They are looking into this for many reasons from food products to human medical needs etc.

I don't plan on being frozen. Good job by the people who came up with this idea to bilk millions from people like Disney.
