Replaceing a CV Axle, Help.

1984 S-10 Blazer

My cv axle on the passenger side went today , the boot had been ripped for a while, didn't have time to fix it. I managed to remove the old one because it basically fell apart. The problem is how to I get the new one in. I can meet up the 2 plates but can't get the shaft through the hole held on by the upper and lower control arms. It's not that flexible. ANy ideas? The nuts holding on the control arms at the nuckle are rusted I can't loosen them, I'm not even sure they are nuts because they look round. I don't know what to do...

am I going to have to drill them out in order to lower the control arm? I would rather not .

I can't find a DIY anywhere for this problem,.

Thanks Again
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Replaceing a CV Axle, Help.

well i dont know if you have the same set up as a 2000 blazer, I own one, i also just replaced both half safts, i actually did the whole differential...but anyways i had to take the whole spindle off. bearing and all. and the hole ur talking about ?? im assuming your talking about the bearing...Im not sure.. you may also have to take your shock out on the right hand side again im not sure if you have the same setup as mine... take some pics maybe easier to help you . you can try to just remove the bearing assembly... again, if its the same as mine, 3 18mm bolts hold it on from the back.. goodluck hope this helps a little.

Yes i had to also remoce the spindle and bearings, but behind that is a large plate that the spindle and bearings bolt on to and that is the problem, It's the whole piece that turns when you steer. I don't want to have to remove it but I'm starting to think I have no choice.

Thanks
