1997 S10 Blazer outside rear view mirror replacement

Hi. I am new to the forum. Can anyone help me find instructions on how to replace the outside rear view mirrors on a 1997 S10 Blazer? Please email me if you can.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: 1997 S10 Blazer outside rear view mirror replacement

To remove:
  1. Remove the door trim panel and the water deflector in order to access the mirror retaining nuts.
  2. If equipped, remove the access hole plugs, then unfasten the mirror nuts.
  3. If equipped, unplug the mirror electrical connection.
  4. Remove the mirror assembly from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Place the mirror into position and install the retaining nuts. Tighten the nuts to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  2. If equipped, attach the mirror electrical connection.
  3. If equipped, install the access hole plugs.
  4. Install the water deflector. The water deflector is secured by a strip of adhesive between the deflector and door, as well as waterproof sealing tape. Upon installation, make sure a good seal is achieved to keep water from entering into the body. If necessary, use strip caulking as a sealant between the deflector and door.
  5. Install the door trim panel.

Re: 1997 S10 Blazer outside rear view mirror replacement

I have the same truck and just recently replaced my mirror. It's simple, just buy a maintenance book at any auto parts dealer for your truck and go to Body and Trim repair manual section. There should be a step by step procedure on how to get to your mirror, just follow the instruction and you'll get in in 15 to 20 minutes. Good luck

Blazee, could you be a little more specific? LOL.

I would say that Blazee hit it right on the money with that one.

I have a 1995 blazer, no problem once get the door panel off, that's my problem. There is 1 screw behind the door-open handle but no other screws anywhere. How do you get the panel off ?

Once you get the plastic screw off the door open handle you can pry the retainer that the screw came off with, then you can get the plastic cover off for the door open handle and then just take off the lock mechanism and slide the door panel off the side. Be carefull not to break any off the plactic parts they are already brittle.

Re: 1997 S10 Blazer outside rear view mirror replacement

I did a replacement of my passenger powered side mirror. Followed in instructions and it took longer to pull the door panel then to replace the mirror. Total replacement time was about 15 minutes. Very easy. Thanks for the great How-To.

Dont forget there are two screws under a plastic cover located at the bottom of the door grab handle, at least thats how my '95 is.

Re: 1997 S10 Blazer outside rear view mirror replacement

I need to replace the glue for the button on my inside rear view mirror which fell off. I bought a glue kit. Can someone tell me how to get the button out of the existing mirror bracket?

Re: 1997 S10 Blazer outside rear view mirror replacement

The button slides in and then there's a little metal spring clip that holds it in place. Take a small screw driver, and release the clip while sliding the button out. Worst case senario, you can usually just bang the button out.

Thank you sir. That was it. I was afraid of forcing it and breaking something. Your advice is most appreciated....
