Exclamation 84 S10 Help Help Help!!!

84 S10, 2.8l V6, Major Problem Here. When I Start It Up, There Is A Knocking Sound Coming From It Sounds Like #6 Cylinder (rear Of Engine In Front Of Driver), Warming Up, I Get White Smoke, Very Sweet Smelling, Once It Warms Up Smoke Goes Away, But As I'm Driving, I Get A Bad Vibration At Low Rpms, But As It Speeds Up The Vibration Goes Away. I've Also Noticed The Radiator Hose To Water Pump Has A Trickle Of Coolant On The Outside(replacing Hose 3-10). Any Help You Guys Could Give Is So Appreciated, I Can't Even Tell Ya

Re: 84 S10 Help Help Help!!!

You've probably heard from me, along with several other people that the 2.8L has a weak bottom end. And it sounds like yours is basicly fried.

The white smoke is from coolant that probably leaked into the oil pan which will destroy even the best bearings quickly. My guess is that either the intake manifold gasket or head gasket started leaking internally.

Bads Crew at least used to have a profesionally re-built 2.8L engine sitting around, you might want to PM him

Or you can dump in a comaro 3.4L motor, which is a straight bolt in. You have to rob your intake manifold, your oil pump pickup and oil pan.
You'll want to get all the accessories with it (alternator, power steering, ect) since they use a serpentine belt system. The water pump will turn the wrong way if you don't do this.
Plus you'll need an electric fuel pump.
Here's some inks on the 3.4L engine swap

And I have a how to wire up an electric fuel pump somewhere that I can look up. PM me on it if you need it
