Re: Durmax Diesel

I've never seen dual exhaust for a duramax but im sure that if you go to a muffler shop they can make it for you and it would be a whole lot cheaper than buying a kit(which might not exist). Probably under $300.

Re: Durmax Diesel

O thanks, in that case if its a do it yourself thing, then ill just fabricate it myself at my welding shop. You have never seen dual exhaust on a Duramax?
It sounds so good man. I think I can just chop it and do it up myself.. thanks again.

Re: Durmax Diesel

I've never seen a Duramax with dual exhaust but my neighbor did hav one with like a 6" tip. IT WAS HUGE haha! I've seen Ford Powerstrokes with duals and i just looked it up on google so im pretty sure that duals for duramax exist. On google all i could find was single in / single out with a forky looking thing that welds onto the single out. But if you just want a nice sound with a slight hp increase without paying a lot then fabricating it is the way to go. If you have your own shop then itll be even cheaper for you .

Re: Durmax Diesel

Yea im gonna chop it all off and just order tubing and such, then fabricate it myself. If you wanna see the kit for a Duramax Diesel Dual Exhaust, check this out: http://www.dieselmanor.com/exhaust/gm-ss-dual.asp . Im not gonna buy the kit I dont think, I was just looking at it and still debating it. But thanks man. Check out the video on that site to, sounds pretty good there.

I think thats the one that I saw on google. Like I said its not true dual exhaust it just has the fork. 06Z71 said to chop it all off and i think he meant to cut everything off and leave it off so that it looks smooth and sounds loud. When fabricating it try not to use really wide tubing or else you will lose some low end power because there wont be any backpressure. Since your going to make duals i would use the same width off tubing as stock or smaller and just go with really wide tips if thats the look you want. Even if you lose some in the low end you will gain a real kick in the pants in the higher rpms.

Re: Durmax Diesel

Ok 06Z71, what do you suggest.. I want to know what you would do personally. Thanks to 01silverado03z400 for his information, he pretty much appointed me in your direction about this topic. So tell me, would you chop it all off and leave it or, chop it all off and then fabricate it yourself with 4" tubing with like 6" tips? Just wanna know your personal opinion, then ill decide what im gonna do.

Re: Durmax Diesel

Chop it all off and leave it off, very clean look, But I would install a turndown on it to get the exhaust out from under your truck (WARNING!!!!! this way may have a lot of cab noise)

Re: Durmax Diesel

What if I chopped it all off and brought it out the side on a 45 degree or so?

Re: Durmax Diesel

if your going with a 6" tip from a 4" pipe make sure that ur tip is at least a foot or longer then it doesnt look so bad.

Re: Durmax Diesel

Yes!! Then its decided, ill bring it out on the side on less then a 45 degree, with a 6" tip on it that looks like its a part of the pipe, so basically looks like I have a 6" exhasut pipe. Great, thanks boys!!
