Accessory removal... PS and CC

So as I am dismantling the DSM I am getting rid of the shit I dont need. AC is already history, what about the power steering? Is it really that rugged without it? Has anyone driven a DSM without it? Should I just leave it in or get rid of the shit?

What about cruise control, how do you get rid of that?

Holy crap don't remove your power steering. I had to drive without mine once and it was absolutly horrible manuveuring through a parking lot.

To get rid of the cruise all you have to do is take out the boxes and such and get a non-cruise throttle cable from Mitsu and put it on instead and your good to go.

Re: Accessory removal... PS and CC

driving without a ps pump is hell. The guy I bought my car from took it off because he wanted the car to rev quicker. The guy was a idiot. even if you have a strong upper body you will still brake a sweat in parking lots. dont do it.

Re: Accessory removal... PS and CC

I was going to get rid of mine until I launched it at 15psi without it and it took everything I had to keep the damn thing straight. Its so much easier to control with power steering, especially with 1 hand.

I use cruise control all the time, would hate to have a car without it.

Re: Accessory removal... PS and CC

Amen, I would definitly keep both, especially PS. When I bought my first eclipse (97 RS), it did not have PS (due to belt being way too loose) and a simple 3-point turn would take about 5-6 times....seriously.

As for CC, my cavalier doesnt have it, but I sure wish it did.

Re: Accessory removal... PS and CC

I am for sure getting rid of the CC, I never use it anyway. Its just extra shit in my engine bay that I dont really want.

I wont take off the PS. I didnt think it was bad towing my Talon, but I guess its not a big deal. I was going to do it for simplicity's sake for if (when) I have to take out the engine again. Its way easier to take off than I thought so its no big deal.
