Haha...I hate to say it, but I've had a 40k army for about 5 years now. Still don't have the patients to finish it up though.

RTS games have always been my favorite, followed closely by FPS's. Don't get the new Empire at War RTS though. It's cool for about a day or so, but grows tiresome after that. It has almost no replayability.

I can't wait for the new TA to come out though, TA = greatest RTS of all time and it's more than 7 years old.

Re: World of Offline gaming

You should try Dawn of War then. It's based off of Warhammer 40,000, but it's RTS. So, it's all the fun of the game, but you don't have to paint or build miniatures. And the games last about 1/3 as long.

And yes, Total Annihilation is by far, one of the best games ever. The sheer size of it is awesome. Some of those maps take foreverrrr to play.

Biggest Map on there is, I forget the name, but it's the water level on Core Prime. It's huge... I think it's called 7 Islands.

Naval battles get crazy, then bringing in amphibius units up their ramps into their base. Or unloading units off of the transport ships... beach landings!! Rahhrrh!

Best part about that game, is that you could load up a builder unit with an infinite amount of work, just holding the shift button and he'll build something and go onto to build the next unit in the que. OMG that's such a sweet feature.

Or putting builder aircraft on patrol over your base, and letting them repair anything within their path whether it's defenses or units. Golden!

Must go find my TA cd's now.

Nano is also the coolest thing ever thought up for any RTS. It solves all building/construction/relaiming issues of any game. Why use a hammer to build it when you can just Nano it!

I've also played Dawn of War and thought it was fairly fun, but grew bored of it after a week or so. I get bored of games very easily unless they have a lot of variations.

Re: World of Offline gaming

haha... well they made a expansion pack for it called Winter Assault, added another Race (Imperial Guard) and tweaked the rest of the races and gave them some new units each.

More skirmish maps as well, the story line wasn't bad either. You can chose to play as the Good (Imperial Guard/Eldar) or Bad (Orks/Chaos).

Although, if you choose to be good or bad, you end up battling the folks your allied with. Kinda a neat twist... you allie for the good of the cause, but then once things get heated it's everybody for themselves.

I enjoyed it, I skirmish games regularly... still enjoy it. Artillery in that game works almost too good... which is why I'm happy that the computer AI doesn't use it.

You'd get fucked over way to quick if they did.
