Question Help with Vin# verifying engine i have???

I was finishing up the installment of the megashifter when i notice somthing wasn't right. I looked the Vin# on the door and noticed it end an 8, the same as in the title and the # on the dash. Now, is the number in the center console supposed to be the same as the vin#'s on door and dash? I check in my berlinetta and all number's matched up completely. The number in the center console ends in 9. If the vin# ends in 8, that means i gotta L98 right? To me, it looks like my car was previously in an accident. Nothing i can do about that. But what i can do is find out if i've had an L98 all along. Help me out my brothas!!!

The 8th "digit" is the engine ID number. F is LB9 (305 TPI) 8 is L98 (350 TPI) Always go by the one on the dash area, behind the windshield. It is the hardest to tapmer with.

OK. Thanks for verifying that. It's a 305. Eighth digit is an F. Thought the car was tampered with. Thanks guys.
