Bugatti T50
It's an old kit by Heller, but despite its age, is very detailed and quite easy to build. I've noticed on here that Heller kits aren't that well thought of, but imho the ones in this series (mainly pre war but also a few post war) are very good - I have most of them in a cupboard waiting to be built!
This was done last summer (along with Heller's Mercedes-Benz 500K roadster & Monogram's '64 Pontiac GTO - pics to follow) whilst I was recuperating from an operation. Wish I'd found this forum (& known about clearfix) before I built it, as the headlights are fogged & there's a minor glue drip on the rear window. The black body paint is straight from a rattle can & the blue is the plastic - lazy I know, but at the time I also hadn't discovered Tamiya tape for precise masking. It looks better when seen for real, as it's a bit dusty despite my best efforts to clean it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Always loved this car, didn't realise there was a kit of it.
Great work!

Re: Bugatti T50
Thanks guys! I will be fixing the glitches (lights & rear screen) soon as I've just bought another one (the rest will go into my spare parts box, to help with a scratch build that I have planned, but that's another story!)

Re: Bugatti T50
Looks good! I'd agree with you that the Heller kits are under-rated. I've got this one waiting to be built along with the Talbot-Lago Record and the GP car.
Their 1/24 4.5L Le Mans Bentley, for instance is a very detailed kit and seems to be every bit as good as the 1/12 that we all know (and love(?)) but just half the size. Maybe one day I'll get around to building some of them instead of looking at the boxes !! |

Re: Bugatti T50
Very cool work. The blue looks painted even tough it isn't - no qualms there. Keep sharing your models!

Martin, for when you build your T50, here's a few of the issues I had when building mine: the engine didn't sit properly on it's mountings once the gearbox was hooked up to the propshaft, but this isn't noticeable now it's fully assembled. Also, the back axle needs careful alignment otherwise the rear wheels wont be centred in the wheelarches & it will sit tail down. As for the Talbot Lago GP car, I'm still looking for that & the BMW 328 as I have most of the rest of the series in a cupboard waiting to be built! Thanks everyone for all the feedback
