I need a CAS and I'm confused

OK so when I took my cams out I broke my cam sensor

because I'm an idiot

I'm confused though because doesn't the 95 have a different style sensor than a 2gb? I know my motor and wire harness was swapped out for a 98 along with the connectors like my O2 sensor so I don't know which cam sensor I have. Mine sat right behind the intake cam. Anyone have one of these they want to get rid of? Also I called a place in town and they have an eprom ecu out of a 95 tsi fwd for $175 with trade in so if anyone is interested let me know. Will a fwd ecu work with an awd?

Yes, you need a CAS. lol As far as I know, the CAS's are the same from 95-99. Of course I could be wrong too. lol

Isn't there a part number on it? Check and just search if you can't find it pm me with your vin and ill get you part number.

But, he couldnt go by his VIN since the car and motor are of different years. With that, would the CAS need to be from the year of the car or the motor? I would think it would matter since they have that setup so gay... Damn these DSM's and their vast amount of confusion... lol

Yeah thats true about the vin...Check for a part # and hopefully that will solve everything...
BTW how did you break the cas?

Yes, they are different but the only dif. is the pulse. I have a 97 ecu in my 96, and all I did was swap the plug wires. Remember you could even put a 1g cas on your head if you wanted. They are cheap, and you would be able to adjust base timing with it. Yes fwd ECU will work in AWD.

EDIT: The wiring is different also, I believe the 98 will have a blue wire involved. Go to the RRE web site they have diagrams of the CAS from different years.

when I was pulling the intake cam, one main cap on either end stuck doen can the one poped off causing me to put an angle on the cam and it cracked the sensor
