Hello all,
I need some help for one of my family members SUV's, it is a 1997 Toyota 4Runner 3.4L 4WD. I know nothing about foreign cars, I really only work on domestics. Well the problem is the lights went out for her climate control, radio, and clock. I wired up a nice looking clock/temp for her, as a new clock costs $280!!!! None of the auto wreckers in the area had 4Runners, in fact they did not even have any Toyotas. So my question is, does the radio have replacable lights behind the trim? If not that's alright, I can just install an aftermarket for her. But more importantly, does the climate control unit have replacable lights? Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Interior Lights Question
I doubt that it is the lights themselves which are causing her the problem. First, make sure the light control rheostat is in a position to light the dash. It is a round dial to the left of the steering column.
Check the fuses in the box under the hood behind the battery, and under the dash, in front of the driver's left leg. Particularly AM1, AM2, DOME, and GAUGE fuses. I don't remember which fuse controls these lights. Having all those lights burn out is really too big of a coincidence to believe without checking the above stuff first. BTW, there is a '96-'02 4Runner Toyota service manual linked in the post stickied at the top of this forum. Download it for future reference. The above information should be in the Repair Manual - Body Electical - Combination Meter section.
