why i think 1g's are better then 2g's

I been asking alot of people with 1g's (90-94) eclipses why they got a 1g instead of a 2g eclipse. Alot of people say 1g's got a better body style, I think 1g's got a more american look to them and look more on the lines of a small muscel car & the 2g's have a natural born rice look. Also 1g's came with better engines and everything under the hood is better, while the only thing i think is better on 2g's is the interior..

whats your opinion? should i stick with the 1g's or go for the 2g with the 420a?

You seem to be asking which is better based completely on cosmetics. I happen to like the 97-99 DSMs with the hoop spoiler the best. I say go with what you like most. 2g's are generally newer if that helps....

7 bolts came from 93-99, and yes they do. 420a came in the rs/gs/esi and the 4g63 came in the gst/gsx/tsi 2gs own all

I like my 1g.

It's spiffy. And lighter than a 2g! And now it has a stroker motor!

Wooo!

Re: why i think 1g's are better then 2g's

^^^werd, 1gs are lighter, have a better bottom end, metal BOV instead of that crappy plastic ones, I like the looks of a 2g better but for performance I would probably go 1g.

4G63 came standard in 89-94 DSMs
4G63T came in all 89-99 GS-T, GSX, 90-97 TSI, 89-93 Laser turbo
420a came standard in 95-99 GS, RS, 95-97 ESI

the 2g eclipse was one of the most eye appealing cars when they first came out. futuristic for its time with its round edges

it doesnt look ricey at all to me, actually the only reason i beleive you view it that way is because of what ricers have dont to the cars. those who know what there doing and actually have some good performing cars have just that.

a very good looking performance car!!

but to each his own

Re: why i think 1g's are better then 2g's

I think the 2gb's are the sexiest car on the road, but a close second are the 1ga's. The 1g's do have nasy ass interior, but the 2g's arent a whole lot better. Performance wise, I would definately say the early 1g's. The good stock BOV, perfect starting turbo (14b), and the 6 bolt block with a better flowing head. Cant go wrong there.

Re: why i think 1g's are better then 2g's

1g's only weight slightly less than 2g's. And you can put the 6 bolt and the 1g bov in a 2g pretty easily. And Isn't the suspension on 2g's better?

Re: why i think 1g's are better then 2g's

I think whoever owns a 1g will say 1gs are better than the 2g and vice versa. This is very subjective. I bought a 1g because I didn't want to spend more money on a project car. I like it and it's easy to mod. A few years ago I really liked the 2g. Which one would I prefer, I really don't know.
