86 hardbody stalling

My 86 hardbody w/z-24 engine is having a hard time these days during freeway driving. It works fine during start up and acceleration, but while coasting or during mininum acceleration at about 3000 rpm it cuts out and lurches for a brief second. I have listened to everyone's advice and replaced fuel filter, plugs, wiring and even a new distributor but the problem is still there. It's becoming very frustrating, not knowing if any day on a trip, that I may not be coming back due to some kind of breakdown. Any more suggestions on what to try next.

Re: 86 hardbody stalling

A long shot, BUT I had a similar problem and turned out to be my alternator...sometimes the light would come on sometimes not. Put a VOM (multimeter) to the battery and check for 14.0 volts at idle...sometimes the alt conks out and the light does not come on...
