Gas?

what type of gas should i be putting into my 79 trans am the engine is a 400 from a 68 bonneville thanks.

Premium? LOL buy some race fuel an engine like that can only benefit from high octane

At that hig compression, pump gas is probable hurting your engine. You might be able to get away with high test, but you're probably looking at 100 octane or higher for the best results.

Shit mine is 11:1 and I run 91 octane without a problem.
