97 ford ranger oil pan gasket

I blew out my oil pan gasket and was told that you have to lift the motor up in order to replace it. This sounds totally out of place for me. Granted i have only owned older chevy pickups with the basic carberated 350 motor in it. Does this make sense and if so how do i go about raising the motor on the 3.0 v6

Re: 97 ford ranger oil pan gasket

I just had my oil pan replaced and they did infact have to remove the engine because there is a frame crossmember crossing it, and unfortunately it is welded in.
