Painting Flat Black

I recently purchased a 77' Mercury Marquis for very cheap. Runs perfect and interiors mint but the paint is faded and whatnot. Im taking a work experience program through school where i will be working for an autobody shop, which made me come up with the idea of maybe painting the car myself, seeing as how it was so cheap and i figure it would be good practise for me.

But my question really is what colors are easiest to paint with? I really like the old mob car look, which is why i figure flat black would be pretty awesome, but a high gloss black would also be great. Im just thinkin the glossy black would be way harder to paint with than the flat. And with the flat black im not sure how good the chrome would look beside it.

Im trying to find pictures of flat black cars but im having trouble.. so what color do you think would be easiest? And do you get a better finish clearcoating flat black paint or not

Re: Painting Flat Black

black is generally a hard color to paint. you have to watch for drips like a hawk, and make triple sure that you're spraying evenly. if you don't take these precautions, your job is going to look like ass.

white is definitely the easiest color to work with, it even hides body damage pretty nicely.
