EVO IX RS vs. SRT-4

Well I've always been a huge fan of the Lancer Evolution, and finally bought one. My plan was to buy a used 2003 or 2004 EVO VIII, but after reading and hearing all this stuff about the IX, I decided to shell out the cash for a brand new EVO IX RS. Well I've had the car for approx. 3 weeks, and finally got to race a SRT-4. Was heading home a couple of nights ago, when I pass by an orange SRT-4. The SRT-4 owner noticed me and played catch up to get me to race him. So I was like ok, break in is done, so let's do this. Well we went at it from a 75-80MPH roll and by the time I let off at around 105-110MPH I had approx. 3 car lengths. The SRT-4 sounded and looked stock. I expected a little closer of a race, but hey what can I say. This was my first official kill. Second kill was a Altima 3.5SE.

Re: EVO IX RS vs. SRT-4

Nice kill, but to be honest with you he had one of two or both of these problems.

1. He's a horrible driver
2. He's got horrible boost leaks which srt's are notorious for.

You should not have pulled 3 lengths on even a stock srt within a 35 mph gap. He should have been right next to you if not passing you.

Nice car though, have fun with it. I'd love to have one.

hahah how hard is it to leave it in one gear? he went from 80-110mph, thats basically 4th gear pull. no shifting required.

Well it is possible he wasn't the greatest of drivers, but passing me, I doubt that, EVO IXs are very strong cars, even stronger than the VIIIs. Don't get the IXs mixed up with the VIIIs, even 2005 EVO VIIIs are pretty strong. Stock SRT-4s are not faster than stock EVO IXs at any speed.

Re: EVO IX RS vs. SRT-4

Stock IXs have been putting down anywhere from 255WHP to 280WHP on Most Dyno Jets, I also have a EVO IX RS, the lightest of the EVO. My EVO honestly feels as strong as my previously bolt-on modified 3000GT VR4, even though I doubt it's actually faster.

lol 80-110mph is considered ridiculous speed rolls? hmmmm over here in nyc you can only bump into cars doing 80mph cause thats the only time traffic is clear ( at night ) so we always start at 80-to 12-30mph we don't really have a choice.

Yeah I tried to, I wanted to go longer and from lower speeds but he didn't want to race anymore.
