ls/vtec

is it worth it to do the ls/vtec swap on my 98 teg ls? cuz i wasn't planing on buying a turbo. or would it be better to buy a turbo? is there a lot of maintanene in haveing a turbo?

buy a turbo, but be prepaired for maintenance and oil changes at less than 3,000 miles each time

get ls/vtec! it shoud be cheaper than a turbo kit and wont wear your engine. plus u will have vtec and higher revs.

I have the Superstreet issue with the LS/VTEC build up. They get like 192bhp at the wheels, but, they built the engine(pistons, rods, cams, crank). If you don't do that kind of build, you have to treat it like an LS with its 7000rpm redline.

how much do you think an ls/vtec swap would cost?? if you didn't have the ls block already? and you needed everything?

This is how much I spent so far...

91 LS block $300
ITR pistons w/rings $200
CTR cams $700

Skunk2 cam gears $150
ITR valve springs/retainers/valveguides $200 (i think)
vtec oil line $90

GSR head $550
Vtec distributor $200
Vtec wires $250

Skunk2 intake manifold $290
BBK 70mm throttlebody $325
Port & polish/headwork $350

JDM 4-1 header $375
Exedy clutch $275
Clutchmasters lightened flywheel $290

AEM CAI $200

Running total: $4745.00
plus shipping charges for some of the items : ??

Stuff I havent paid because engine's still being built:

Machine shop/crank balance/rods shot peening ?
arp bolts/bearings ?
Total labor charges for assembly ?

This badass motor should be done by end of this month...its been in the shop for 2 months now and my mechanics' taking his lazy ass time...But it's all good, I hope to be rewarded for the wait...And I hope it passes smog too, hahaha...
