Keyless-2000 Altima

Using keyless results in lights flashing, doors unlocking, etc. Remote has new battery. This activity may even continue hours later, all by itself. Not using the remote totally stops problem. Local shop found tech bulletin saying that the keyless system gets interference from the engine cooling fan system, and only fixed by replacing two wiring harnesses at $150.00 each, plus labor. Keyless system is Nissan, came with car. Is this truly the only solution? If so, would an after-market system (eg., Pep Boys) work, with the original malfunctioning system in place.

Thanks

Re: Keyless-2000 Altima

the bulletin states to install the sub harness's only if problem occurs with radiator fans running while engine off. i really doubt this is your problem. usually when keyless system acts up(operating on its own and alarm if equiped) its the remote keyfob internal short. is the keyfob within range when it acts up? replacing it will solve your problem if it is.
