Question More horses... ?

My current car:

'04 Neon SXT 2.0, 5-spd, 15k mi ...
Bosch +4 plugs
K&N air filter
Flowmaster 30-series muffler
Mobil 1 full synthetic
Removed resonator-box-thingy from intake duct

So my question is, how much of an improvement could I hope to see from an aftermarket CAI? I would probably make one myself, but I wouldn't want to go through the effort of it if it isn't going to perform any noticeably better than how my car is set up now. Any best ideas?

Also, what kind of ball-park hp and 1/4-mile numbers could I expect to get (assuming I drove/shifted at my best)? Thanks...

A true CAI would give you a couple HP depending on other mods you may have or will do. I have seen one dyno where the Iceman intake added 7 HP over the stock airbox on a completely stock 2000 neon. If you are just starting out modding your car, I would go with the CAI, UDP, and header to start with.

Re: More horses... ?

Hmm okay...

What about a Japanese-invented "common ground" setup? I've seen some companies boasting 5 hp from it, although it seems like a stretch to pay that much for wires and actually get 5 hp out of it, but I saw a WRX that they dyno'd and it actually made an improvement... anyone tried this on a neon?

I don't know of anyone trying it on a neon, but I doubt you would see any HP gains from it.
