I went to install my lowering springs today and ran into the same problem I know a lot of people here have had. I got the fronts installed fine, but the rear bolts and connect the lower control arm to the shock are rusted tight. I actually ended up breaking the head off of one side. I know a lot of people here have had the same problem, and my question is this. What do I do now? Can I take it to a shot and have them break out the bolt and then just get a new bolt and put it in? Do I have to buy whole new bushings, a new lower control arm, or what? I've called around my local junk yards in the past looking for parts for my car and no place ever has any 92-95 Civics, so I don't think I'll be able to get any parts that way. Any sugestions would be great, thanks...

I had the same problem, on BOTH sides. On one side I couldn't remove the one connecting the shock and on the other I couldn't remove the one right behind the brake. I tried drilling and cutting them out myself but managed to mangle the bushings, so I tried to get the bushings out in hopes of replacing only those bushings. But, no luck, I don't own a press and couldn't seem to remove them by any means (I tried a gear puller and couldn't get it to stay on). I ended up just buying new bolts and control arms. The bolts were $6 each, its expensive but buy all six, and the control arms were about $70 each. Don't forget to use White Lithium or some other form of water proof suspension safe grease on the bolts before reassembly, it will help if you ever need to take them off again. Good luck, I've been where you are now and it sucks, my car was on cinder blocks for over a week.

the part that was rusted for me was the bolt and nut. unfortunetly the nut is welded onto the strut. so i had the nut welded off, then knocked out the bolt. slid in another and tighened it

Mine was different. My bolt rusted to the inside of the bushing... fused I should say because I couldn't remove it with a torch and and impact driver. I had to replace the whole arm and each arm contains 3 bolts, therefore replace the 6 bolts. Your situation was much better than mine.

i had the same problem with my civic while installing springs for the rear. the bolt was seized in the bushing, which means that i had to cut the bolt and get new bushings. if you can get a hold of a lift, that would be your best bet to lift your car up and cut the head of your bolt and knock out the bushings. of course you would need a new bolt and bushings from honda. i got mines pretty cheap cause one of my friends work for honda. i dunno the exact cost of bolt and bushings, but for me i paid $15. went in after hours and lifted my car up at honda and worked on it. didnt take that long, like an hour. but i didnt need new control arms, best bet would just get new bushings and bolt.
