Re: Jordan 191 - Please Comment Me I Am Rookie
Wicked in this forum usually means good.
The green color for that car looks about right to me, it was not a metallic color. If you get the Tamiya spray lacquers you will get a better shine on the finish. They list the recommended colors in the Tamiya kit instructions. You don't need to prime before painting with it, but it can help with adhesion, and uniformity if you did any bodywork. Looking good for a rookie... - Mark |

Re: Jordan 191 - Please Comment Me I Am Rookie
Difficult to offer too much comment with the pics so big and fuzzy. From what I can see of the paint finish it doesn't look too bad.

Re: Jordan 191 - Please Comment Me I Am Rookie
Hi there,
Firstly, nice model. I have it in my to do list. I echo the other responses. I notice what look like humbrol enamels in the background... like other people have suggested acrylics will give you a better finish. In terms of undercoat, I did not on my first model and found that I have to apply LOADS of coats of paint... which is not only tedious but covers lots of detail. It will save you time in the long run to: 1. lightly sand all the surfaces 2. wash in warm soapy water 3. spray a light grey primer for dark final colours, but use a white primer for light colours (yellows and whites). I use automotive ones which seem to perform better. 4. use a can of whatever TS-nn Tamiya recommend for colours (you can save money with automotive sprays for black (matt/semi/gloss). 5. remember to use light coats. 6. if you want a REALLY SHINY car, use polishing compound or wax! Hope that helps, Bill |
