start car w/engine rotated?
I have a 90' 3.1. To get to the rear plugs I have to rotate the engine. I would like to do a compression check. After rotating the engine and attaching the compression tester is it ok to crank the engine with the engine still rotated?
Thx for your response |

Re: start car w/engine rotated?
Think rationally about this. The engine is bolted tot he car via the motor mounts. this is to keep the torsional force of the engine in check, and basically keep it from spinning wildly inside the engine bay. starting it while a motor mount is disconnected is a surefire way to do one or more of the following things:
1- Destroy the engine bay due to the engine smacking around 2- Break the othe motor mount and you get to figure out how to run from an engine flipping wildly on the ground until it sucks up all the fuel in the fuel lines or the computer gets disconnected. Pobbible fire and fuel tank explosion with this one too. Theres many more, with #2 up there being my personal favorite. I'd honestly reccomend bolting the engine back in for the compression test, for safety sake
