friend is buying an 01 WS6

My friend fell in love with my car and wants to buy a WS6. Hes only 19 but made up his mind and wants a trans am. I told him to look into the V6 firebird, but his heart is set on the LS1. I told him its gonna be veeerrrrry powerful and intimidating at first. And is it a good daily driver. I had mine for a while and had no problem with it, xcept snow. What would u guys recomend??? V6 or the LS1??????

Re: friend is buying an 01 WS6

I would kill for an 01 WS6. thats me litteral dream car.

How much is he buying it for?

milage is all in how you drive. i can go though a tank, driving the same distance both times in either a day and a half or a week and a half, all in how i drive. the more you floor it, the crappier the millage.

How responsible is your friend? does he drive like an ass, or is he sane? if he drives like a moron, do NOT let him buy the LS1, he will proably wreck the car and himself. if this is his first car, again, do NOT let him buy it. ifits his first convice him to get the 6 banger.

Ever think you weren't the norm??
I could have NEVER handled a car like mine when I was 19. No way.

Re: friend is buying an 01 WS6

Lots of factors to consider . I waited till 35 to get one , mainly because of insurance . But with power comes responsibilty . Death is irreversable side effect of power loss of control . Racin, and just cutting up . A coworker lost his 17 year old son 6 days after he got a 300zx turbo . Lost it on a curve .
On economy , I get 21 evry day driving , 29 interstate only . And 18 racin stoplights. Rob

Re: friend is buying an 01 WS6

He is soo young.. And normally when u give a really powerful car to a young person, that person will wanna show that power to everwhere.,. To friends, family, whenever he sees a sports car on the street. And l guess he doesnt have good skills and that means that car is a big DANGER!!!!!!!

l think he shouldnt get an LS1. he cant handle that car.

Re: friend is buying an 01 WS6

i know what you guys mean. my first car was a 95 t/a lt1. i hit a tree drifting a tree. then i got a vr-4 and then an 02 firehawk just after i turned 17 but i learned my lesson so i respect the car's power a lot more. And by the way, i pay for my cars, not my parents. appreciate them more.

Re: friend is buying an 01 WS6

okay guys I like to consider myself a pretty good driver. I also purchase my cars myself which I think contributes a GREAT DEAL to responsibility and respect. I don't know about recommending a V6 for somebody who's 19 cause I had to deal with that crap too (oh yeah you're 16 you can't handle it).Yeah right. I know 40 year old guys that wreck their cars quicker than teenagers. On the other hand, I did drive a V6 Camaro for about a year before I bought my 97 WS.6 soooo I was used to the F-bodies.....Overall, just depends on the driver......I would get the LS1 though....heh heh.....
