97 buick regal ignition problem

While changing my 97 buick regal ignition i clipped the black wire the runs from the back of the part were you put in the key. i am pretty sure this was the security wire. When i went to start the car it wont turn over and the security light is now on. i spliced the wire back together and tried the reprogram but no luck. I f anyone has advice it would be appreciated. Thinking about just bypass passkey. Anything would help. The wire was black with two white wires inside.

I question his methods. Unless it is fiber optic then you should be able to splice it back together. Just make sure that you make a solid connection using soldier and then wrap it with tape or shrink wrap to keep it from grounding out. This may be a ploy to sell you a lock cylinder. I would try the splice first and if it doesn't work then do the new cylinder.

Re: 97 buick regal ignition problem

When I changed the ign switch on our 98 Regal that wire was cut. No warning light and it starts fine. But we had a remote start installed several years ago, I don't know if they bypassed it somehow or not. I couldn't find the other end under the dash.
