display cases on ebay

I think these cases look really nice, what do you guys think? I just ordered a 12-car case from these guys.

I was thinking about getting this cabinet (somewhere in the far future).

You can't place the models in different angels in your case can you.

we're all about building stuff right?... im gonna build a display case myself. my dad's got tons of tools. $60 +$12S/H is pretty steep IMO. Its a nice case though, dont get me wrong. i like the fact that it hangs on the wall.

Don't buy a display case.. built it ! for about 60$, you can make something really nice that will be ok for over 30 car...

Mine cost me 50$Can (35$US) and I can display 36 car in it....

The one on ebay is really small (8 cars, no angle possible)

Yeah, my dad built one. It's got mirrors, can hold about 12 cars, and cost less than $50.

Where do you guys but the parts for your cabinets? your local hardware store? Don't you have to get everything precut to size first? What about the glass/clear portion?

First, you have to draw out a plan with measurements. Its not like legos. once you have a design (the easy part) you can go to home depot for most of the stuff. (or any hardware type store that sells wood and things to put wood together like nails and screws.) you'll need tools to cut the wood to size and shape. if you dont have them, find a friend that does and borrow them. you may even be able to get stuff cut to size at home depot. (not sure on that but you could ask. the glass and mirrors you can buy at a place that specializes in glass. look in the yellow pages for places around you. you can tell them exactly what size glass or mirror to cut. they probably have all the hardware for the glass there too... you could maybe go to a furnature store to get some ideas too. and when your done you'll be just as proud of your display case as you are about the cars it displays!

Some hardware store can cut your wood.... here it cost 2$ by cut.. so if you don't have something to cut, it's a good idea..

whoa! love the lotus esprit!!! it used to be so widely available, now i can't even find it in a hobby store.... there's one on ebay but u gotta be a sucker to pay that much for a monogram kit.

anyway, can u comment on that kit? remember anything about it? fit? accuracy? i'd been wanting a model of the lotus esprit for ages!

and back to display cases...

the wall hanging one, be warned that your models won't stand out once you fill it up cuz there's no proper lighting. You should really go for a display case that's more boxy (cross-section) and has a halogen lamp at the top or something. If there's no proper lighting, your display case is gonna look more like a spice rack from afar. check out ikea
