Brakes
Guessing this may be master cylinder time but I must get other opinions. 95, 3.1, APV- Pedal is good. Pads and shoes were replaced three months ago during exhaust system and fuel pump replacement (when ever possible I like to combine repairs when I remove parts.) When in park at first start, my brake light is on. stays lit if brakes are pumped or not. Goes out seconds (less than 10) after shifting into reverse or drive. ABS was still functioning during most recent ice and snow. Haven't checked ABS since light has come on due to lack of ice and snow now.

Re: Brakes
First things to check, fluid level ok? There is a brake fluid level sensor in the master cylinder that will trip the brake light if the fluid is low, or if it is gunked up. Does the light stay on until you put it in gear, or does it go out in ten seconds or so after starting car? Try pulling the parking brake release, and pull up on the parking brake pedal to insure it's all the way up, then let go of the relase handle. If your is the type that you pump to release (no release handle), pump it with one hand while pulling up with the other.

Re: Brakes
I am headed out to check fluid now. The light stays on until I shift then goes out. I have played with the parking brake in the exact manner you describe. I do use my parking brake because most of my parking ends up on some type of incline and it is the pedal release type.
