1.9 plastic valve cover leaking

Hello

I did a search and didn't come up with an answer to my question.

A friend of mine just bought a Saturn with a 1.9 DOHC engine. Sorry, I don't remember the year or model. The valve cover is leaking. He took it to his "normal" repair shop. They said...no problem "we'll just replace the gasket. Well, after reading up on the repair they said the (edit) valve cover needs to be replaced when ever it's taken off.

Anyone on the know on this?

Thanks for your input!

Regards

Dan

Re: 1.9 plastic valve cover leaking

???

i have no clue what they mean. the intake manifold does not come of when replace the valve cover gasket. second the "intake"(which can be any part of a complete system) does not need replaced if serviced, with the exception of the intake manifold gasket, which still has nothing to due with the valve cover. and the valve cover shouldn't need replaced ether.

here is a how-to for the valve cover gasket - http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26532

Sierrap

Sorry I started posting about the valve cover and ended up posting about my 97 LeSabre's plastic intake. My mistake!

Thanks for the link. I'll have to check it out.

Regards

Dan
