1990 3.3 liter Grand Voyager Dies

I have a 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager. It runs fine for quite some time and then just dies. I've had it to a mechanic and the cam sensor, crank sensor, and computer have been changed. The problem persists. Seems most likely to die after it has warmed up. The only way to get it started again is to turn the key completely off....it will then restart and run for a few seconds, sometimes 10 minutes or more. Engine just dies. No sputtering, no warning.

Fuel pump pressure checks out fine. Mechanic has had the vehicle idle for hours....and it does not die. The problem is intermittent but we have lost trust in the vehicle.

The engine is in good shape, uses no oil, etc... error codes don't seem to help my mechanic.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: 1990 3.3 liter Grand Voyager Dies

Welcome to AF!

I know that everyone will think I am crazy but check the speed sensor in the transmission. The computer relies on input from the transmission speed sensor to run the engine correctly. If the sensor is bad it will cause it to stall or run eratically. I am not sure if it will work or not but it is worth a try.

Good Luck!
