Terrible thump when accelerating.....
When I accelerate in my 1989 LeSabre I hear a violent thumping coming from the engine (or surrounding area) ... I replaced one of the engine mounts and that didn't fix a thing (maybe others are bad)... my engine seems to be shaking quite violently but I am not entirely sure if that is where the sound is originating from (my belief is that something is hitting something when I accelerate causing the noise)....
If anyone has any suggestions lemme hear em! btw, it is very noticeable when accelerating from a stop and less noticeable when accelerating from a speed like 50-60km/h. |

Re: Terrible thump when accelerating.....
I had the same problem after having a previous auto serviced. The throttle valve cable may be out of adjustment, as was the case on my previous auto. The throttle valve cable was discontinued after the 1991 model vear and replaced by electronic control.

Re: Terrible thump when accelerating.....
I had that happen .. Turned out to be my Crankshaft Position sensor.. Cheap fix... check for Camshaft position sensor errors .. and if you have them.. replace the CRANKshaft position sensor too.. Cost.. $100 labor.. or do it yourself..
