Please help-Sounds like me car is about to blow up!
Hi. Can somebody please help me? My 97 maxima was running fine earlier, but when i started it just now it started making a really loud whining/growling sounds. I tried to drive it, and the sound got louder. I don't know how to describe the sound-it sounded more like a growl at first, but turned into a high-pitched whine when i started driving. Thanks.

The very first thing I would do is to remove the belt (or belts) in order to see if there is any accesory the main problem (i.e. alternator,water pump, pulleys, etc.) if the noise stop, then look closer one of them by turning them shafts and feel the bearings, that may be worn out.
