The picture is too close up, kinda looks like aprt of the frame to me but like I said too close for me to tell. I'd say a cross between a thingamajig and a doodad...

That leaf spring isn't too healthy either.

yea wutever leafs are nothing to replace, id want to lower the car to give it a nicer stance on 15x7 z28 alumnum alloys, you have probably seen them, but yea i need to know weather or not its wroth the amount of work.. if its the frame rail is that bad?

Re: 1981 Wuts this thing thats rusted?

Could just be part of the inner bumper shell. Its hard telling how bad the rust is. If its not almost all the way through it can probably be repaired.

Re: 1981 Wuts this thing thats rusted?

even if it is through you might be able to get a piece of metal to weld over it and patch it.

Re: 1981 Wuts this thing thats rusted?

eh eh, cut and replace, do it right. Once rust starts, it's on the run. you should spot blast the whole piece to make sure you cut ALL the rust off, otherwise you're right back there soon.

thats what I mean by patch. Dont just leave the rust there. sandblast, grind, cut...whatever floats your boats just get it out then weld
