the best way to wire......

hi im new to the car audio world and was wondering what would be the best way to hook up 2 sony xplode 12" p5 subs to a 1200watt sony xplod 2ch amp also a friend told me that i could run 4 subs through this amp is this true? and please dont critisize i know sonys not the best but im on a tight budget thanks

it just says 1200 w on the box but if u read closer it says rated power output200x2 and max 400x2

Says 1200w. That's probably "peak". It's output power is more along the lines of 600w probably. What are the ohms of those subs, are they dual voice coil or single? What are the specs on that amp? What power does it do at certain ohm loads?
