2000 Accord gas mileage sucks! why? help?
I've have a 2000 EX sedan w/ 2.3L engine. Now I see that it's supposed to get close to 27 or 28 MPG, but hell I'm getting 22 MPG if I'm lucky. My driving patterns haven't changed since I had my 88 LX sedan...It got 27-30 MPG constantly. I don't keep my foot to the floor everywhere I go so what could be causing this or is this normal for an 2000 auto EX? Please let me know, because I'm tired of bitching about it everytime I gas up.

try checking your air filter and fuel filter and etc,
me i started saying the same for myself the last few weeks and you know what fixed it? higher octane gas and most importatnly not thinking about it, if you look at your gas meter every time you stop at a red light its gonna feel like your going thru gas quickly but try higher octane though, it works for me last alot more longer than cheap gas |

i hav what you got...same mileage w/ AEM cai, but stock was 25mpg. are you using the A/C & in stop & go city traffic or neighborhoods w/ lotsa stop signs? change your oil & air filter, before buying premium gas. you should stay on 87, not higher.

stick with the 87 oct. dont go any higher. doesnt give more power and it burns up your oxy sensors. what kind of oil are you running on? your car all stock? your fuel filter shouldnt be the cause since its barley a 2000. change your spark plugs recently? :bandit:

I'm using Castrol GTX 10w30 and I haven't checked the plugs....probably should now that I think aboiut it. I just barely rolled 30K the other day. Would the plugs really make that much of a difference. The car is all stock....for now. Thanks for the help and replies guys. Keep em coming.

check the manual and see what oil your suppose to be running on. i use to run on 5w 30 which is what im suppose to run on for best mileage but im on 10w 30 cuase theres more miles and the damn mechanic throw the 10 in. maybe the sparks arent working optimum. not set in right or something.
