Angry G_d damnit.. (fire sucks)

So I left campus this weekend to come home and visit my buddy who is on leave from Iraq. And I get a call this morning from a friend who said my dorm building is on fire. (I go to University of Hartford). Well after much calling I find out that the fire was in the attic above my room. Which has definite smoke and water damage from the sprinklers. They dont know about fire damage yet because no ones been in it. So its the 2nd week of the semester and I went from having a nice single to proably living on someones couch for 6 weeks or so. And all my stuff is most likely destroyed. I know for a fact that my clothes are proably messed up along with my text books. ($1500 worth of text books ). And my other computer is proably dead. So Yeah im just a wee bit miffed about all this. I so need a beer.....

Stuff, clothing, furniture that has been through a fire really stinks, even if it looks okay and isn't burned. That really sucks.

Here's hoping the building insurance gets you better stuff than what you had before!

anything that has been damaged or needs replacing MAKE the school pay for. it is not your fault, it is their responsibility to make sure those buildings are safe and that things like that won't hapen. it was also not your choice to have that specific room near where the problem occurred. i'm sorry about all your stuff, best of luck getting everything back together.

Something like this almost happened to my brother, he was living at his frat house, friday night i helped him move all his stuff out of the frat house, saturday night the house burned down. Talk about luck

It's the schools responsiblity b/c of your tuition and dorm fees to find any and all persons affected a new place to live and replace any school related items(i.e. text books). That's my understanding of how these things work. If you don't get a reimbursment I would talk to a lawyer.

You would call it luck.
The cops would say 'grounds for suspicion'.

Yea man the school should pay for your crap. I know at my school if you have stuff stolen out of your room then they have to pay for it. A dude down the hall from me had like 2,500 bucks worth up crap stolen after somebody broke his door in(not quite sure how they did that without anybody else noticing.) That really does blow, I mean what are the fucking odds of a fire breaking out in a dorm building??? Peace-

Well i got back to my campus. My desktop is dead. along with the flat screen right now. my bedding got soaked and destroyed. i lost a bunch of textbooks. and other things. most of my clothes were soaked by the sprinklers. and the fire is entierly the schools fault. they violated code with an illigal duct. so i will make them pay for a new computer. i just got moved into my new really shity housing. im in the freshman complexes. i went from a room with a kitchen to a kennel. here is the link to the story

$8000 for room and board and this is the shit you gotta go thru, i'd be pissed too! sure, a fire's a fire, but from that vid, it seemed to me it was the school's fault.
sry, bro, i hope this shit gets sorted out quick so ou can have your won room again.
